RAM, the pickup brand of the Stellantis group, revealed the first images of the new regional truck with which it will compete in the incipient segment of compact trucks. And he announced that the brand new model will be called Rampage.
The RAM Rampage is the brand's first pickup to be manufactured in Brazil, where it will go on sale at the end of this month. It is produced at Stellantis' plant in Goiania, Pernambuco, and uses a modified Fiat Toro platform – also manufactured in the same complex.
Due to its characteristics, it will be located above the Fiat Toro and below the medium pickups, its most direct rival being the Ford Maverick. Although it may also take some market share from models such as Toyota Hilux, VW Amarok, Ford Ranger and Chevrolet S10, to name a few.
It is built on the platform of several Stellantis models such as Fiat Toro and Jeep Compass and Commander.
The utility is expected to reach the Argentine market in the not too distant future, although the local subsidiary has not yet provided information about it.
The smallest and most economical RAM
With the RAM Rampage, the brand will again offer after a long time a smaller pickup than its classic full-size (Ram 1500 and 2500). One of the legendary models was the Dodge Dakota, whose name sounded for this truck.
However, Rampage prevailed, which means "alborto, noise, fury" and recalls the forgotten Dodge Rampage that was marketed in the first half of the eighties and of which only 37,000 copies were produced.
RAM Rampage
As a result of the 291 project, the RAM Rampage also inherits the monocoque structure of the Fiat Toro, something unusual for a brand accustomed to developing chassis with stringers.
Under the hood will carry the unprecedented gasoline engine, turbocharged, Hurricane 4 of 2.0 and 270 horsepower. It will also have a turbodiesel variant with the well-known 2.0-liter 170-horsepower Fiat Toro, among other models. According to Brazilian media, it will have a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The official launch will be on June 19 in São Paulo, Brazil. There you will know all the details and, probably, the date of arrival in our market.
