A long list of leading filmmakers and filmmakers will arrive at the 40th Jerusalem Film Festival, which opens on Thursday, July 13, with the festive premiere of Golda, in the presence of the film's director Guy Nativ and the cast, including Helen Mirren, who plays Prime Minister Golda Meir, and Leib Schreiber, who plays Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
At the opening event, three awards will be presented to three giants of world cinema: actress Helen Mirren - who has previously won an Oscar, Emmy and Tony; director Oliver Stone, who will also attend the festival; and the beloved Belgian directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.
French director Claire Denis, one of the world's most respected filmmakers, will arrive in Jerusalem to head the judging panel for the international competition. Award-winning Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó will head the judging panel of the Israeli competition. Among his well-known and appreciated films are "The White God" which won the Cannes Film Festival's "A Certain View", "Jupiter's Moon" which competed in Cannes, and "Tears of a Woman" which competed at the Venice Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for actress.

This year, the Jerusalem Film Festival will take place on July 13-23. As every year, the festival will present a rich artistic program that includes more than 200 films from 50 countries, dozens of festive premieres of the most prominent Israeli films of the year, as well as spoken films that have won leading festivals around the world, including Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Sundance and others.
