With the return to schools and towards the start of university studies, we set out to test several models at different prices that promise to effectively filter out background noise that interferes with our concentration • In between, we also found headphones that don't even play music • This time: In Ear headphones

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Samsung has undoubtedly done its homework on the new model of its earbuds. The material from which the earbuds are made is pleasant to the touch and they sit very comfortably in the ear. The earbuds have touchpads where you can switch songs, answer or reject calls, turn on ANC, control volume or turn on Spotify.

Of course, the earbuds come with the Samsung app and they connect easily and quickly to our Galaxy devices, but they should also connect quickly to any other device. The sound quality is good – the headphones manage to produce a clean sound alongside deep bass and balanced travel, providing a high-quality, warm and pleasant audio experience.

These are great headphones for travel – they're lightweight and as mentioned, we didn't feel them in our ears. When it comes to noise filtering, the ANC feature does the job well, successfully blocking out public transport background noise and office talk. Without a doubt, this is one of the best noise-filtering headphones available today.

The battery lasts less than six hours (less than the competition), but with a case that provides two and a half more charges, that's more than enough listening time, so you can take them on flights or long journeys.

Jabra Elite 8 Active

Danish company Jabra has introduced the next generation of its super-waterproof sports headphones at IFA 2023, which promise to be high-quality headphones suitable for sports not only in terms of hardware, but also with an advanced noise filtering feature and high sound quality.

The earbuds are very pleasant to the touch and are made of a material called Jabra ShakeGrip that gives them a very stable grip in the ear. When we tried them at the gym, we found that they stayed in place when running and moving, even when we started sweating. We were very pleasantly impressed.

The ANC feature works well (though not perfectly) when listening to music, and we felt almost completely isolated from the noisy surroundings of the institute. At the same time, when we went for a run in the street, we switched to a combined mode that balanced the background noise and music well.

The sound quality itself is also very good, as expected for a flagship model of a company of this size. The resulting sound was clean, precise and evenly distributed around the head. The battery of the earbuds is enough for a playback time of 8 hours continuously and another 24 hours with the charging case.

The earbuds come with the dedicated Jabra app, with various options for adjusting the sound profile and even customizing the functions on the touchpads on the sides of the earbuds such as switching between songs, voice activation, volume control, answering calls, etc.

headphones that are beautifully and comfortably designed. There is no app, but you can tap the earbuds to start/stop music, switch to previous/next song, answer and end a call, and switch between the three hearing functions: noise filtering, combined mode and full entry of outside noise.

The sound is excellent in all three modes – the bass is excellent and the sharpness in sound quality is evident, as is the case with phone calls. In ANC mode, we couldn't hear the TV in the other room, but we heard the public address system in the clinic and the people talking a few chairs next to us.

The headphones are very comfortable, you can stay with them for a long time and even lie on your side and listen to music for hours. However, the earbuds' touchpads are particularly sensitive, so if you try to arrange the earbud in your ear, you'll likely accidentally tap it and turn a function on or off.

If you expect to work in complete silence under noise filtering mode, your hopes will be dashed. You hear noise from outside, but all the sounds are very low, and when you take out the headphones you discover how noisy the world around you really is and how successful the noise filtering mode really is.

Price: about 1300 NIS | Available at official importers and resellers.

Redmi Buds 4 Pro Xiaomi

The earbuds are designed in a similar style to Apple's Odysseies and have a high-quality plastic finish. They are comfortable, settle in the ears easily and without getting tangled up with turns (as is the case with other headphones).

There is a feeling of good grip inside the ear, but nevertheless, we began to feel a slight discomfort (familiar in this type of headphones) already after two hours of use. They are easy to carry and charge and last for about 9 hours, with the case giving another 36 hours.

The ANC feature works pretty well, but it's not perfect. We tried the earbuds in several modes - with and without music, in a work environment, on public transport, at home and on the street. Our conclusion is that the full noise filtering feature manages to filter out about 70 percent of noise. Not bad as mentioned, but for those sensitive to noise among us it may not be enough.

The sound quality is very high quality and these are undoubtedly successful headphones in this aspect. The sounds sound very clean and balanced, the bass is relatively deep (after all, these are cheap headphones) and all the little details are clearly heard. Their microphone is also very good - the people we talked to didn't even notice that we were using headphones, and that says it all.

The earbuds are controlled by Shayumi's app, which is overall comfortable to use and uncomplicated. Changing the profiles through it gives the required effect and after a few minutes of work, we managed to get the sound we were looking for. For their price, they more than provide their value.

Price: 469 NIS | Available at Shayumi's store and official importers.

QuietOn 3.1 (noise filtering only, no music)

We debated a lot whether to include these headphones in this article or not, since these are headphones with no possibility of listening to music, only active noise filtering. In other words, these are headphones that function as technological earplugs.

The earbuds filter out noise both passively and actively. They are designed not only for those who are light sleepers and sensitive to background noise, but also for focusing on work, taking public transportation, and traveling. If you're someone looking to filter out noise but not listen to music – this is the headset for you.

So how does it work? The technology used in the headphones creates an inverse wave at low frequencies, typical of noise that disturbs sleepers and office workers. They do not have wireless radiation and are sufficient for 28 hours of use after a full charge.

The earbuds are small, light and very comfortable even when leaning on the side. In an office environment, they were able to filter out noise significantly, but we could still hear the voices of the people around us, so this is not a complete noise block, but a kind of earplugs that soften and lower background noise.
