Protection of an adult
The protection of justice is a form of protection for short-term adults.
This regime is considered to be less restrictive than guardianship and curatorship, notes the Public Service website.
In this case, Alain Delon will be accompanied for certain acts of his daily life, the most important decisions.
The preservation of justice also allows him to benefit from a “reduction or cancellation of acts which harm him” a posteriori, reports the professor of private law and criminal sciences Nathalie Peterka on the Club des juristes.

Medical decisions
The “La Piscine” actor’s backup was taken following a medical declaration.
“Medical protection is put in place following a declaration made by a doctor to the public prosecutor,” underlines the Public Service website.
The agent assigned to Alain Delon will be responsible for assisting the actor with his medical follow-up and in the choice of his doctors.
“The safeguard allows the special representative to contest (either by canceling them or by correcting them) certain acts contrary to the interests of the adult, which he or she may have carried out during the safeguard of justice,” specifies the Public Service.
As a reminder, the octogenarian's medical expertise concluded that “the total abolition of his discernment”.
How long will it last ?
At most and without renewal, placement under judicial protection cannot exceed one year.
The protection dispute judge may decide to renew it once, bringing its total duration to two years.
Beyond this period, Alain Delon's legal protection could end if he regains possession of all his faculties or if he is placed under guardianship or curatorship.
Note that “if a special representative is appointed to perform certain acts, this decision may be appealed within 15 days from receipt of the notification”.
