"I am very worried about the inexorable deindustrialisation of the country. Today we no longer have a car company in Italy. The truth is that all the decisions that concern the Italian market are taken in Paris. We have reached a point between the absurd and the humiliating, that is a car like the '600 is produced in Poland. Seeing the '600 being produced in Poland, when all the former Fiat plants are under layoffs, is something that doesn't seem true to me."
Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said this on the Inaltre Parole program on La7, hosted by Massimo Gramellini.
"Meloni is right to say that cars advertised as Italian must be produced in Italy. Together with Germany and perhaps better than France, we were the country that produced the most beautiful cars in the world. Today, given that production has dropped so much since it entered Stellantis field, let's at least ensure that foreign automotive companies come and produce in Italy", said Montezemolo.
"Many Italian suppliers told me they had received a letter in which Morocco was promoted in terms of investments. It's a bad thing. I believe that at the moment it makes no sense, having factories and suppliers of such high quality, so good, that they risk going in great difficulty", he added.
