It is an opening of 2024 also in the name of extreme feats and at all latitudes, that of Pirelli equipping the Porsche 911 Dakar with Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires across the African desert and with the studded Stella Bianca the Porsche 550 Spyder on the icy track of Zell Am See.
The collaboration between Pirelli and the Stuttgart company was in fact the protagonist of 7000 kilometers on asphalt, sand, dirt and stones, without ever having to change tyres, covered by a Porsche 911 Dakar equipped with Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires approved for model.
The car, driven by its owner, left from the Porsche Zentrum Inntal (Rosenheim), south of Munich in Germany, to reach Dakar, the capital of Senegal, following the route of the Africa Eco Race, a rally which on the same days it connected Nador in Morocco to the Pink Lake of Dakar in 12 stages, crossing Mauritania and Senegal.
The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, despite being road-approved tyres, faced the raid route, alongside racing cars, bringing the car to the finish line safely, through an 18-day long undertaking characterized by 'road' conditions different heterogeneous ones, including approximately 1000 kilometers of stony dirt road in the desert.
The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus was developed for the original equipment of the Porsche 911 Dakar precisely to support the high performance typical of a 911 and at the same time allow it to tackle the most difficult off-road conditions.
A completely different challenging context and this time on ice, the one which saw Stella Bianca tires as protagonists, studded and mounted on a Porsche 550 Spyder present at the 2024 FAT Ice Race, an event of which Pirelli is the official partner.
Also available on the market since February in sizes 5.00/5.25-16 for the Porsche 550 Spyder and 356 Pre-A, the Stella Bianca is the longest-lasting tread from Pirelli.
The tire from the Pirelli Collezione range is dedicated to classic cars, it looks identical to the original but with more modern technology to offer efficiency and safety even on wet surfaces.
The elements that refer to the past are the cross-ply structure, the tread redesigned with the help of historical documents preserved in the Pirelli Foundation archive, as well as the Pirelli logo with the shield that characterized the products of those years.
