Among the technological features of the new Renault Scénic E-Tech Electric we also find the smart roof, called Solarbay.

It is an innovative panoramic roof, capable of becoming completely or partially opaque, or transparent, which allows you to protect yourself from the sun while preserving the brightness of the passenger compartment and the temperature, ideal for maintaining thermal comfort in both summer and winter.

The result of a joint development by Renault and Saint-Gobain, when the sun is high it avoids pulling the classic blackout curtain, an accessory that has now become superfluous on the new electric from the French company.

A choice that is part of the brand's innovations designed to improve life on board the cars, as revealed by Anne-Chloé Kort, product leader of Renault Scénic E-Tech Electric.

In fact, it is sufficient to press the button located on the ceiling light, easily reachable by the driver and front passenger, or use the Google Assistant voice command, and in just five seconds, through a thin progressive wave that appears or disappears along the nine segments, the panoramic glass roof, more than one meter long, can become completely opaque or transparent.

Furthermore, Solarbay can be adjusted in four positions: completely transparent, completely opaque, but also, separately, transparent at the front and opaque at the rear, or vice versa.

This innovative roof also represents an ideal solution for children, who can play or sleep without the sun's rays disturbing them.

Furthermore, it protects against temperature changes through the various layers of glass, and automatically switches to opaque mode when you turn off the engine and get out of the vehicle, while, when you turn the engine back on, it automatically resumes its last position.

Finally, it allows you to gain 3 centimeters of headroom and reduce the weight of the vehicle by 6 to 8 kg compared to traditional panoramic roofs with mechanical darkening systems.
