Should we push SUVs out of cities?
While Paris is organizing a vote on Sunday on the establishment of a special parking rate for these vehicles, the Lyon town hall has also announced tiered prices according to weight and motorization.
The measure will come into force in June.
Both cities criticize SUVs – an acronym for “
sport utility vehicles
” –
of being too bulky, too heavy and too polluting.
The objective is in particular, according to the Lyon town hall, to achieve

a fair sharing of public space
