Italy should do more to protect its automotive jobs rather than attack Stellantis for producing less in our country.
"This is a scapegoat in an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for the fact that if we don't give subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, we put the plants in Italy at risk," said Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, interviewed by Bloomberg about the criticisms of the prime minister, Giorgia Meloni.
“If you don't want electric vehicles to progress, you just have to stop the incentives,” Tavares said.
"It is obvious that the Italian government is doing this. The market for electric vehicles in Italy is very, very small. It is the direct consequence of the fact that the Italian government does not incentivize the purchase of electric vehicles", concluded the Portuguese manager.
