Volvo has launched its first truck model designed only with electric drive.
With heavy-duty capacity and broad driver visibility, the FM Low Entry is an electric truck optimized for safe and efficient driving in urban areas.
Volvo Trucks' latest addition to its electric truck programme, the Volvo FM Low Entry is a heavy-duty truck specifically designed to handle a wide variety of transport assignments in urban areas.
It is also the first truck model ever designed by Volvo available only with electric drive.
"This zero-emission truck - explained Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks - represents a great addition to our electric range, perfectly suited to urban transport and designed with the driver in mind. It is powerful, but at the same time presents a smooth and easy handling.
The new Volvo FM Low Entry is perfectly in line with our ambitions to expand the electric offering."
The low driving position gives the driver excellent visibility and control over the surrounding environment.
The FM Low Entry's good visibility has earned it a five-star rating under the Direct Vision standard, which evaluates heavy-duty vehicles on the road in London and will come into force in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The truck is based on Volvo's FM model.
The spacious cab has been lowered and moved forward, while the low entry and flat floor make it easier to get in and out of the truck.
The new FM Low Entry will initially be sold in Europe and Turkey, Australia and South Korea. Sales are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024, with production expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024.
