Highlights: Shamran, former employee of the Franprix in Quincy-sous-Sénart (Essonne), was sentenced to 20 years in prison this Friday evening. His three accused relatives received suspended sentences ranging from one year to three years. “There is no justice in this country,” said the mother of the young 23-year-old student, who had been strangled in her convenience store in May 2019. Given the gap between the requisitions and the verdict, it is likely that the prosecution will appeal.

He reacted to the sentence as he attended his trial.

Without showing any emotion.

This Friday at 6 p.m., Shamran, former employee of the Franprix in Quincy-sous-Sénart (Essonne) was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Sandra in her convenience store in May 2019.

A sentence significantly lower than that which had been requested by the attorney general.

The latter had asked for 30 years.

“There is no justice in this country,” said the mother of the young 23-year-old student.

She then felt unwell.

Like all those close to the victim, she expected a much more severe sentence.

The three relatives of the murderer, accused of having more or less disguised the crime scene, received suspended sentences ranging from one year to three years in prison.

During the two weeks of trial, the ex-Franprix employee, now 38 years old, repeated that he had only moved Sandra's body and that he was not the murderer, repeating the version of a mysterious Romanian.

“The court was not convinced by your denials and your Romanian hypothesis,” the president of the Val-de-Marne Assize Court told him.

The magistrate also pointed out Shamran's "attitude" following the murder and the "lack of explanation" at the hearing.

Ban on French territory

In addition to his prison sentence, a ban on French territory was issued against him.

“His lack of criminal record, however, allowed him to avoid a more severe sentence,” comments a courtroom regular.

For the members of his family, the Assize Court considered, for two of them, that they had covered up Shamran to “protect the reputation of Franprix”.

And for the third, out of “family loyalty”.

“My clients are relieved that the guilt of each of the accused has been recognized by the courts even if they believe that the sentences are not commensurate with the atrocity of the facts suffered by Sandra,” reacted Julie Granier, the lawyer for Sandra's mother and little sister.

Given the gap between the requisitions and the verdict, it is likely that the prosecution will appeal.
