A man died this Friday morning after falling from the observation deck of the Tate Modern museum in London, police in the British capital announced.
“Police were called at 10:45 a.m. (10:45 a.m. in Paris) to reports of a man who had fallen from the Tate Modern,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
“Despite the efforts of doctors, the man unfortunately died at the scene,” she added.
This death is not considered suspicious, said the Met Police, who are investigating to identify this man.
The Tate, a modern art museum located on the south bank of the Thames, warned on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that it would probably remain closed on Friday because of this accident.
The museum is one of the most visited in the world.
It received approximately 3.6 million visitors between January and September 2023.
A little Frenchman pushed in 2019
This drama recalls a very serious incident that occurred in August 2019, when a 17-year-old young man pushed a six-year-old French child from the tenth floor of this museum.
The boy had landed on a roof from the fifth floor, about thirty meters below.
He suffered a brain hemorrhage and multiple fractures to his spine, legs and arms.
British media reported last summer that the child's condition had improved and he now only used his wheelchair for long outings.
Suffering from psychiatric disorders, the young man who pushed him was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum of 15 years of imprisonment.
