An inmate from La Santé prison escaped on Wednesday, the Créteil prosecutor's office said on Friday, contacted by AFP.
He was in the specially equipped hospital unit in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), dependent on the Fresnes penitentiary center.
An investigation into flagrant escape was opened and entrusted to the judicial police, added the prosecution.
A “security audit” requested
Aged 35, the man had been in pre-trial detention since March 12, 2023 at the Santé prison in Paris, as part of a judicial investigation for extortion with a weapon, attempted extortion and rape and violence against a person. engaged in prostitution, said the same source.
His transfer to this hospital unit took place on Tuesday.
