Trailer "Relax" - Season 11/HBO
Larry David retracts his apology for attacking Elmo, the beloved furry doll from the American "Sesame Street".
Creator, comedian and actor Larry David ("Calm Down") was a guest on the "Today" morning show on Thursday to promote the new and final season of "Calm Down" (which airs tomorrow, Monday, also on Bice, Hot and Cellcom TV).
Elmo was also there since his tweet about mental well-being went viral in the days before.
Therefore, when David stood up and attacked the television personality live during the program, his actions caused a shock that was already visible on the broadcast in the faces of the hosts - Savannah Guthrie, Huda Kutb and Craig Melvin - and then all over the American network.
"Someone had to do it!", David said while allegedly hitting the doll.
Minutes after the event, the hosts implored David to speak to Elmo from the heart, and the comedian finally did, apologizing to the puppet on air while trying to stifle his laughter.
The apology did not last long.
The next day, Larry David was a guest on Seth Meyers' Tonight Show and repeated his words.
"Elmo spoke. I was waiting to be interviewed," explained David LeMyers.
"And Elmo (here David imitates Elmo's squeaky voice) 'was talking about mental health. And I had to listen to every word. And I was like, 'Oh my God! My God! I don't think I can take another second of this!'
And I got off the chair (here's David going back to his normal voice) and walked over to him. And choked him. There you go. I couldn't take it. And you know what? I'd do it again!"
