According to our information, these disturbances are linked to shootings carried out shortly after midnight during the night from Saturday to Sunday, on this important motorway, in the Grande-Synthe sector (North).
Results: one dead and one injured, the Dunkirk public prosecutor confirms.
Around 12:30 a.m., firefighters were called upon to treat two men with gunshot wounds on the side of the A16 motorway.
On site, rescuers discovered a first man with a gunshot wound.
“He was found still alive,” the Dunkirk public prosecutor tells us.
The man, “a smuggler or migrant type”, hit in the chest, according to a police note that we consulted, was transported to hospital, where he died quickly.

Near the first victim, there was another man, also injured by a bullet: his left index finger severed by a projectile.
“His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy,” adds the prosecution.
According to the first elements of the investigation, entrusted to the judicial police, the deceased victim “resided in a migrant camp near the place where he was found.
It would have been transported on the motorway to facilitate its treatment by emergency services.

Their identities are being confirmed.
The investigation will have to determine the circumstances of these shootings and the identities of their perpetrators.
