BMW: overtaking approval by diverting the driver's gaze to the mirror/BMW
Fighter pilots are already doing it: since the Air Force's Elbit developed the helmet sight in the 1980s, Israeli Air Force pilots, and other foreign air force pilots who have purchased the Israeli helmet, are able to aim a missile with a glance.
The pilot looks at the enemy plane, presses the missile release button, and it flies in the direction he was looking at, looking for the target.
BMW is now launching the ability to shift a vehicle in the driver's view.
This is not another future technological development: Active Lane Change will be integrated in the upcoming update of the adaptive cruise control in its 2024 models this spring, and will be offered in the new i5, i7, iX, and X5, X6 and X7.

The driver will receive a mark on the dashboard that he can take a detour.
If he approves, the car will signal and go through a manufacturer's lane/site
This is how it will work: when cruising up to a speed of 135 km/h, when the cruise control is engaged, and the vehicle reaches a slower one that is traveling in front of it, it will indicate to the driver that an overtaking can be done. He has already "checked himself in the mirror" and determined that a safe overtaking can be done.
When the driver confirms with a glance, the vehicle will signal and move to the left without the driver having to touch the steering wheel, and then accelerate to the predetermined cruising speed.
Another step on the long road to fully autonomous driving.
