On November 21, Xavier Bonhomme, the current prosecutor general of Nîmes (Gard), found himself on the dock of the 17th chamber of the Paris criminal court.
The senior magistrate was sued for defamation by Nadine Turquin for comments made during a press conference in April 2017 when he was public prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe).

He has just been absolved by his peers, in accordance with the prosecution's requisitions.
In its judgment rendered on February 2, the court acquitted him, after noting in particular that it was impossible to know precisely the content of his statements and thereby to rule on any defamation.
During the debates, even if he admitted to “clumsiness”, Xavier Bonhomme argued for his good faith.
