The documentarian and journalist Benoit Beringer will direct "Yes, as things once were" (temporary name), an international documentary film co-produced by Federation Studios and Anani Studio that will deal with the crimes of sexual violence in the events of October 7.

The film will focus on Hamas' use of rape and sexual terrorism as a weapon of war.

During and after the attack, countless cases of sexual violence, especially against women, were reported and documented by various means - both at the Nova festival and in the kibbutzim and nearby settlements.

The film will investigate these events in depth based on evidence and will also follow the victims' long journey towards recovery.

Benoit Beringer, who directed the film "The Rise of Wagner", said: "Following the events of October 7, Israel began a persistent pursuit of the truth - a task of historical importance to independently document what took place, especially towards women, during this day of terror. This project will accompany the complex journey to establish the facts and raise awareness around the world of the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war."

Beringer is a member of the International Forum of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which won a Pulitzer Prize for its investigation of the Panama Papers.

Before becoming a freelance documentarian, he was a correspondent in Pakistan and Afghanistan and covered the war on terror in these countries on behalf of French radio broadcasts and the German-French public television channel Arte.
