A dark story in Bouches-du-Rhône.
A 76-year-old woman was discovered dead this Monday at her home in Marignane, Le Parisien learned this Tuesday from a police source, confirming information from La Provence.
Her husband - aged 86 - initially said he had pushed her.
He then confessed to killing her.
But according to elements of the investigation, one or more hammer blows were made to the victim's head.
She also allegedly received stab wounds to the stomach and arm.
According to new information published this Tuesday by La Provence, the victim showed signs of beatings, which would seem to confirm the trail of femicide.
A marital dispute
A marital dispute is believed to be the cause of the tragedy, which occurred on the morning of Monday.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested and taken into police custody.
According to La Provence, the investigation was entrusted to departmental security.

In February 2023, a couple in their seventies were found dead in Cabriès (Bouches-du-Rhône).
“The first findings suggest that the man killed the woman before turning the weapon against himself,” explained the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence, Jean-Luc Blachon.
It was the couple's housekeeper who raised the alarm.
