Tesla is recalling over two million electric cars.

Some warnings do not comply with the specifications.

An update should fix the problem.

It's not uncommon for car manufacturers to issue recalls, and in some situations these can even be handled through an over-the-air update without a visit to a repair shop.

Tesla, the pioneer in the electric car industry, is doing the same thing.

Over the past year, the company has been forced to recall vehicles several times.

An example of this is the difficulty with steering due to cold.

Additionally, Autopilot led to a major recall in the United States.

And the new year also begins for the electric car manufacturer with a major “recall” of almost 2.2 million vehicles.

The US road traffic safety authority NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) announced this on Friday.

The reason: warnings for the brake, handbrake and ABS are too small.

According to US guidelines, the font must be at least 3.2 millimeters high.

NHTSA orders recall: 2.2 million Tesla electric cars affected

“Warning lights with a smaller font size can make important safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, increasing the risk of an accident,” the NHTSA explains in a statement about the Tesla recall.

However, no accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the shortage.

The new Cybertruck is also affected by the Tesla recall.

A total of 2,193,869 models from all Tesla series are affected by the recall.

In addition to the brand new Cybertruck, it's about the Model S (built 2012 to 2023), the Model 3 (2017 to 2023), the Model X (2016 to 2023) and the Model Y (2019 to 2024).

Warnings too small: Tesla fixes problem with software update

As with the software problem with the reversing camera, a visit to the Tesla Center is not necessary.

The problem should be fixed via a free over-the-air update (OTA).

 the recall is called “24V051000”.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted.

In Germany, car owners are also informed in writing if their car is part of a recall campaign.

If there is a recall in this country, the problem will probably also be solved with a software update.
