Highlights: "A finger in the eye": Israeli creators are angry about the way the song was chosen for Eurovision - voila! culture. Corporation decisions here not to allow all creators to compete for the writing of the song and adding the possibility at the last minute for foreign creators to participate in writing it, caused anger among creators. "For fifty years Israel has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest and makes sure that the creators are Israelis," says Toossi Gisfa. "I personally refused to submit a poem, but I think that the possibility of submission was available to all residents of Israel," adds Yossi.

Israeli creators are angry with the Public Broadcasting Corporation here following the criteria for choosing the song that will represent Israel at Eurovision.

According to the regulations for the selection of the song, which came to me Walla!

Culture, not all creators can compete for the submission of the song that will represent Israel in Eurovision.

Those who are allowed to apply are only creators whom the corporation and Keshet contact.

This, in contrast to the practice in previous years (with the exception of last year when Israel was represented by Noa Kirel).

The creators claim that they expected a public broadcasting organization, certainly during a war when the livelihood of many creators was damaged because of it, to give a chance to compete to all creators - or at least to thousands of those registered in the AKUM. In addition, a few days before the closing of nominations for the song creators, the corporation changed at the last minute the regulations and thus allowed the participation of foreign creators in the creation of the Israeli song this year, on the condition that Israeli creators are also involved, as published by journalist Raz Shechnik.

On the one hand, preventing the possibility for all creators (or all creators who are members of Acomm) to compete for the submission of the Israeli song that would represent the Israel in Eurovision, and on the other hand, giving foreign creators the opportunity to join the creation of the Israeli song - arouses frustration and anger among creators.

One of the most successful Israeli songwriters said to Walla!

Culture because the conduct angers him: "To the dismay of many Israeli creators, this year they made a committee here that established internal criteria and it addressed creators, probably a few dozen, and they did not allow all creators to apply. To the best of my knowledge, throughout all the years, with the exception of the year when Noa Kirel was chosen to represent Israel, they allowed all the creators or all the creators who are members of Acomm to submit nominations.

True, it creates a harder job for the corporation, to listen to more songs, but they get paid for that as well.

In public broadcasting, all creators in Israel should be given the opportunity to compete for the submission of the song to Eurovision.

You never know where the hit and success will come from."

"It's a scandal," added the creator.

"For fifty years Israel has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest and makes sure that the creators are Israelis. Why precisely in this year and in a time of war are they opening it up to collaboration with foreign creators, thereby harming the community of Israeli writers? Why do it specifically in such a dramatic year? This is the time to give a gift to the creators Israelis? This is clearly improper. This is not a private body. This is a public broadcaster that makes a living from Israeli public funds. There is a vibrant Israeli creative world here, why open it up to foreign creators? An Israeli song is supposed to represent Israel. This is a finger in the eye that is especially jarring in a year like this. If a foreign writer is chosen to be a partner in the creation of the song - the royalties for his part in the writing will go to another country, and this may harm an Israeli creator who could have been in his place. Public broadcasting should encourage the Israeli music industry and support it. But with this step, you are encouraging money to other countries and this is serious."

Yossi Gisfan said to Walla!

Culture: "I personally accepted a request and refused to submit a poem, but I think that the needs of your city come first. It was appropriate that the possibility of submission was available to all residents of Israel and only to residents of Israel, considering the war in the background and the plight of Israeli artists."
