Juan Carlos Osorio, a 41-year-old stagehand who worked at Redford Studios in Studio City in Hollywood, died yesterday (Tuesday) after falling while working on the set of Marvel Studios' "Wonder Man" series.
Osorio, who was killed on the spot, was working on location for filming to begin next month.
A spokesperson for Marvel said: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is given to the investigation into the circumstances of this accident."
The president of the International Union of Stage Employees (IATSE) said: "Everyone in the family of the stage employees is deeply shocked and pained by this tragic loss. We are working to support our friend's family and friends. Safety on the set is our top priority and we will assist the investigation in any way we can."
Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Matin II, follows Simmons Williams.
His character in the comics is the descendant of a wealthy industrialist whose company lost out to Tony Stark's Stark Industries.
Williams goes to work for the villain Baron Helmut Zemo who gives him extreme physical strength.
