To the appreciated substance and robustness, Skoda Kamiq and Scala add even more technology and attention to detail with the 2024 version.

Innovations that translate into greater driving pleasure in daily use, as appreciated in a test with both models, carried out in the rain in the countryside around Frankfurt.

The addition of a touch of refined style, combined with the equipment enriched by some clever details, such as the tablet and mobile phone pockets for rear passengers, wireless charging for the smartphone, the new navigation system, lead to greater satisfaction in daily possession.

Already bookable in advance, arriving in dealerships during the month of March, Kamiq and Scala represent two different winning aspects of the Volkswagen Group brand at a European level.

The first, with an original look, is the best-selling model of the Mladá Boleslav company in Italy but also in Portugal, Spain and Greece.

The second, less exciting car in shape, has gained aesthetic appeal with this update (especially in the more fanciful Monte Carlo version) thanks to the new bumpers, the redesigned grille, the revised style lights and the differently styled wheels.

Factors that should contribute to confirming it as the "best seller" car in the category in some Eastern European countries (Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia).

Built on the MQB-A0 platform, in the 2024 proposals the two cars offer a range of TSI petrol engines with updated emission levels, with the novelty of the three-cylinder 1.0 Tsi with 115 HP (which replaces the previous 110 HP), tested in Germany in combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

An engine that only whips when you pull its neck and that in most situations of use keeps its voice calm, showing a satisfying panache when picking up.

These two 2024 model years are recognizable by the new fronts, with adjustments to the grille and revised headlights and for the Kamiq the new protection plate, with three slits whose style has been taken from the rear plate.

The updates to the interior furnishings are interesting, now made with greater use of recycled materials.

On board both, the digital instruments and the road sign recognition system are appreciated.

The new infotainment features an 8" or, alternatively, a 9" touch screen, which can also be integrated with satellite navigation.

Worth mentioning, then, for the Scala is the presence of the Climatronic dual-zone climate control system in the standard equipment.

Sitting on the Kamiq sofa, you notice the presence of the new tray with variable-sized drink holders, positioned at the base of the two central air vents, just below the two USB-C connectors.

A useful innovation, which however takes away space for the legs of a possible fifth passenger.

Among the new options, worth mentioning are the full LED headlights with Matrix technology (provided as standard for the Monte Carlo versions) and the electric operation of the rear tailgate, by passing the foot under the bumper, useful when you have to load the car and their hands are full with bags and packages.

For Kamiq 2024, the range is divided into 19 proposals, with prices from 24,700 to 33,650 euros.

The engine offer includes the well-known 1.0 Tsi 95 HP, the 115 HP thousand tested in Germany, offered not only with the valid 6-speed manual of the example driven but also with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and, at the top in terms of brilliance, the four-cylinder petrol 1.5 Tsi with 150 HP, also with two types of transmission.

Same range of engines for Scala 2024, for a total of 11 variants, with a range of prices that ranges from 25,350 for the 1.0 Tsi 95 HP Selection up to 33,850 euros for the top of the range 150 HP Monte Carlo.
