A man was sentenced to four months in prison on Wednesday for attacking a deputy mayor of Beaurepaire (Seine-Maritime) after the town hall had asked him to move his car, the Le Havre prosecutor said on Thursday.

The town hall of this rural commune of less than 500 inhabitants, located 25 km north of Le Havre, announced last Tuesday that a deputy mayor, aged 70, had received a headbutt from one of his constituents on 2 FEBRUARY.

The latter had been ordered to move his car, parked for too long in a public parking lot belonging to the Le Havre Seine Métropole Urban Community.

A citizenship course for the aggressor

The attacker was sentenced in court on prior admission of guilt (CRPC) to four months suspended prison sentence, three years of deprivation of his civil rights and obligation to complete a citizenship course within six months, specified Bruno Dieudonné, confirming information from Paris Normandy.

The doctor ordered a five-day ITT for the victim, he added.

This attack came as the National Assembly adopted on Wednesday at first reading a senatorial text aimed at better protecting local elected officials, who are increasingly faced with violence.
