It is 7 p.m. on Wednesday when the police have the horrible confirmation: Virgil, 5 years old at the time of his death, is resting well in the garden of a millstone pavilion on avenue Édouard-Vaillant, in Pantin (Seine- Saint-Denis), for almost twenty years.
The agents had been dispatched to this address following a letter rogatory from an investigating judge.
The couple who lived there at the time, and who still live there, were immediately taken into police custody for murder of a minor under the age of 15 through their ancestors.
For three years, the authorities had been trying to shed light on what could have happened to this child.
The case relaunched by the husband's declarations
On January 21, 2021, the little boy's mother confided in the police during a complaint for domestic violence.
She explains that in 2004 her husband killed her son whom she had brought from Togo.
He would then have buried it in the cellar.
Searches are then carried out by the police services on the basis of these indications.
But nothing.

However, the case has not been put aside and the Bobigny public prosecutor's office opens a judicial investigation.
It is in this context that the husband of this lady was interviewed last Tuesday.
In front of the officials, he said that his wife had discovered his son dead and that he had helped her bury him in the garden.
New checks were then scheduled... until the bones were discovered in the garden.
