Highlights: Yangwang U7, 1,287 HP electric hyper-sedan from the BYD Group - News and Previews. With its four engines the Yangwang U 7 offers a power of 1.287 HP. Top version with this power and 800 km of autonomy uses a powerful 135.5 kWh LFP battery. A more 'calm' entry level model with a range of 720 km is also planned. 5.26 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.52 meters high, it boasts an incredible aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.195.

Those who have already defined it as the first true electric hyper-sedan are not entirely wrong.

With its four engines, the Yangwang U7 provides a power of 1,287 HP, i.e. the same value that is obtained by adding the output of two BMW M5s or, to stay on the subject of battery-powered cars, 262 HP more than to the extraordinary Tesla Model S Plaid.

The data of this new model of the Yangwang brand - which the Chinese giant BYD presented in May last year - arrive, before the commercial debut, from the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The tables also make it clear that the U7 in the top version with this power and 800 km of autonomy uses a powerful 135.5 kWh LFP battery.

And that a more 'calm' entry level model with a range of 720 km is also planned.

5.26 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.52 meters high, the Yangwang U7 boasts, according to what is published on the company website, an incredible aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.195.

This value would pulverize that of the previous world 'record holder', the Tesla Model S, i.e. 0.208.

But it should be the basis of great autonomy at low speeds and - on the other hand - hyper performance by making full use of the four engines, one per wheel.

No official information has been released in this regard but based also on what was communicated a year ago for the U9 super sports car - with which the U7 will most likely share many elements - it is reasonable to imagine that the Chinese hyper-sedan will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about 2 seconds and reach 300 km/h.

There will certainly be, however, the DiSus system which is a proprietary technology that Byd has developed - after its other patents such as e-Platform 3.0, Blade Battery and e4 Platform - to manage all the movements of the car through three systems called Damping Body Control System, Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System and Intelligent Air Body Control System.
