The Paris prosecutor's office announced on Friday the dismantling of a child pornography network which was rampant on a Telegram messaging group where the sale of "sex tapes" of adolescents was offered.
Ten people, including administrators and managers of this group, were presented Thursday to a public prosecutor, who decided to send them to trial.
Two people will soon be judged for having managed the group, the eight others will appear for distribution and possession in an organized gang of pornographic images of minors.
15,000 images discovered
According to the prosecution, at least 15,000 illicit images were discovered by investigators from the gendarmerie command in cyberspace (ComCyberGend), for a profit estimated at more than 50,000 euros, “part of which could have been seized in cryptocurrency” .
“This operation is an opportunity to recall that minors are particularly exposed to the dissemination of their image on the internet,” underlined prosecutor Laure Beccuau in a press release.
“If the recording of these is sometimes done with their consent in an intimate setting, the phenomena of revenge porn and the lure of profit lead to their resale to users or even child criminal networks, by intermediaries who are sometimes very young” , she warned.
