"Exposure to the North", the beloved television series that captured the hearts of the audience in the early 90s, returned to the screens in Israel last week after more than two decades of absence.

It originally aired between 1990 and 1995 on the CBS network and followed the story of Joel Fleischman, a grumpy young doctor from New York who was forced to move to Alaska because she financed his medical studies.

He is horrified to discover that instead of arriving as planned in the big city of Anchorage, he is sent to a small town at the end of the book, Sisley, to act as the local doctor.

There he encounters its various and strange inhabitants, who include, among others, Maggie O'Connell, who serves as his landlady, and whose fights and sexual tension between her and him are an essential element of the series;

And also the young movie-loving Indian Ed Chigliak, local patron Maurice Minifield, the local bar owners, the couple Shelley Tambo and Holing Winkor, the local radio broadcaster Chris and many others.

The series boasted an all-star cast that played a major role in its success and won praise (and many awards) from both fans, but what happened to them since the series ended?

Here's a look at the actors who starred in it and where they are today.

Rob Morrow who played Joel Fleischman

Rob Morrow, the series "Exposure to the North"/Universal

Morrow was born in 1962 in New Rochelle, New York and before the series appeared in guest roles in several series including "Fame" and the movie "Private Space" with Johnny Depp.

His big break came playing Dr. Fleischman, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe and two Emmy Awards.

During the series, he and his representatives tried to improve the terms of his contract, which led to a storyline in the fourth season that echoed this friction, in which Fleischman discovers that his contract includes more years than he initially thought and his attempts at rebellion were not successful. The producers gradually reduced his presence in "Exposure to the North", until in the last season they brought in his place a new doctor to the town, who came with his wife (Paul Provenza and Teri Polo). Moro finally left several episodes before the end of the series.

After the series , his career continued to flourish. He appeared in many films including Robert Redford's Oscar-nominated The Illusion Quiz (1994); Albert Brooks' comedy Mother (1996); Last Dance (1996) with Sharon Stone; and The Emperor's Club (2002) opposite Kevin Kline. He also had roles in Dead For Life (2007) starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and The Good Doctor (2011) opposite Orlando Bloom.

He directed his first film Maze in 2000 , directed one episode of the "Oz" series and three episodes of the "Joan of Arcadia" series, created by Barbara Hall, from the writers of "Northern Exposure." But most of his success was on the small screen.

In 2005, Morrow starred in the long-running CBS hit drama "Numbers," where he played an FBI agent who goes on the trail of crimes in various and sophisticated ways.

In 2016, he joined as a secondary character in the drama series "Billions" broadcast on the Showtime network, in the role of Judge Adam Daguilo.

In addition he is also an acting teacher in Santa Monica where he lives with his actress wife Devon Ayer and their daughter.

Elaine Miles who played Marilyn Whirlwind

Ely

Elaine Miles was born in 1960 in Pendleton, Oregon.

She got the role of Marilyn Whirlwind in the series by chance.

Her mother, Armenia Miles, came to audition for the role of Marilyn, but the casting directors saw Elaine in the waiting room, asked her to audition and she won them over despite having no acting experience.

Armenia was then cast as Mrs. Whirlwind, Marilyn's mother, so the mother and daughter played mother and daughter in the series.

After the series, Elaine appeared as a stand-up artist, participated in several small independent films and released a fitness tape in which she addressed the problem of diabetes and obesity among the Native American community.

Last year she participated in a guest role in the successful series "The Last of Us", as a woman whose pair of heroes comes to the house where she lives with her husband.

The man was played by Graham Greene, who you may know from his role in the film "Dances with Wolves", for which he was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor in 1990, but is also well known to Miles and the viewers of "Northern Exposure", as he played Leonard Quigenhoc in the five-episode play there , the local shaman.

Greene himself recently returned in an unforgettable role in the last season of "Kelvi Samora".

With the exception of Dr. Fleischman and his replacement in the last season, two other television doctors passed through the series before being displaced in 1994 (in a competing slot, opposite each other) to their major roles in hospital series: as mentioned, Anthony Edwards guested in a request for episodes as Mike Monroe and then became Dr. R. Mark Green on "ER," and Adam Arkin was a frequent guest on "Northern Exposure" as the eccentric Adam, then became Dr. Aaron Shutt on "Chicago Hope."
