The accident took place on Saturday “early evening” in the town of Trélou-sur-Marne, the Interior Ministry told AFP.
“Their truck left the road and overturned, hitting an electrical pole,” according to the same source.
The other firefighters managed to “extract themselves from the accident vehicle, without serious injuries,” added the ministry.
The deceased firefighter remained “incarcerated inside”, “the rapid intervention of the emergency services did not make it possible to save him”, specifies the ministry.
