Pelephone announces today (Sunday) the launch of the eSIM technology.

This is real news for cellular customers, since alongside technological progress, this is a move that will make the choice of cellular provider accessible to the public and make the usage experience more convenient and easier.

The use of eSIM will be possible free of charge in devices that support eSIM technology, including the iPhone models (starting with iPhone 11), the Galaxy (starting with S20) and the FLIP (starting with FLIP 3).

eSIM, short for Embedded Sim, is the new generation of SIM cards.

It is an innovative technology of a universal smart chip built into the mobile device that allows connecting to the cellular operator without the need to insert a physical SIM card.

The use of technology allows the devices to be smaller and better sealed against moisture and dust.

Among the advantages of using the eSIM technology: convenience and time saving because the technology is already embedded in the device and you can connect virtually remotely to the cellular operator, as well as easy and convenient operation by scanning a QR code.

The use of Pelephone's eSIM, which is possible for existing and new customers, will be done directly by scanning a QR on the company's website without the need to wait to receive a physical SIM card, or to call customer service and speak with the company's representatives.

Joining is simple and fast, when any customer can go to the Pelephone website, check if their device supports the technology and join easily at no additional cost.

The new technology also makes it possible to set up additional lines on the same device - something that mainly benefits business customers.

Alongside this, the company will continue to allow connecting smart watches to eSIM.

"We have developed the best and most advanced eSIM experience for our customers," said Dror Bahat, Pelephone's VP of Marketing. "35% of cellular customers in Israel have a device that supports eSIM technology.

In a recent survey, it appears that 63% of the public is aware of eSIM and that 55% would prefer to choose a company that offers this technology." Bhat added that: "The main preference motives of the customers as indicated by the survey are: convenience (29%), ease and simplicity ( 22%), savings while waiting to receive the physical card (15%), fast connection (12%)".

In recent years, Pelephone has been involved in the development of the technological infrastructure, the optimal user experience and the information security aspects of the technology in the mobile devices. Pelephone was the first in Israel to launch the eSIM for smart watches and last year the company launched the global eSIM service - eSIM packages for flights abroad in a variety of packages supported in approximately 170 countries around the world.

The company also launched an eSIM that allows tourists arriving in Israel to purchase the service before arriving in Israel and surf the local network without inserting a physical SIM card.

In doing so, Pelephone joins leading mobile operators around the world who have already launched the technology on their network, including T-Mobile, AT&T and Vodafone.

Pelephone is launching the new technology today, with an offer for those who join the 5th generation route with an eSIM a benefit of up to NIS 300 for the purchase of packages abroad. The benefit can be exercised through the Pelephone website, without the need to call customer service.

Partner and others will also join the service in the coming days.
