Every morning, Bernadette and Marie-Françoise put on their walking shoes and joined a couple of friends for a fitness walk.
A motorist mowed down all four of them this Monday, February 12, around 9 a.m., in a street in Steenbecque, near Dunkirk (North).

In police custody, the driver said he "dozed off before the impact" which cost the lives of the four septuagenarians, members of the local seniors' club.
The driver's blood samples were negative for drugs and alcohol.
An investigation has been opened to determine precisely the causes of this dramatic accident.
