Formula E opens the doors of electric motorsport to the talents of the future with the NXT Gen Cup, whose first race, awaiting final approval from the FIA, will be held on 13 and 14 April in Misano, the first European stage of the world Championship.
The calendar includes six European races: the one in Misano will be followed by the stage in Monaco on April 27;
in Berlin, 11 and 12 May;
of Norisring, on 5 and 7 July;
of London, on 20 and 21 July;
and Hockenheim, on 18 and 20 October.
With 20 young drivers, aged between 15 and 25, the NXT Gen Cup, at each stage, includes two 20-minute practice sessions (except in Monaco, where only FP1 is scheduled), a 20-minute qualifying session minutes and a 20 minute race.
The car used, called LRT NXT1, is fully electric, and was developed and built by the Lestrup Racing Team, based on the MINI Cooper SE.
The traction is on the front wheels, the power is 180 HP, with 60 HP more when the push-to-pass functions are active, while the battery is 30 kWh, and has an 800 V system, and the weight is 1150kg.
The technical features also include braking regeneration, adjustable Ӧhlins shock absorbers and Hankook Semi-slick tyres.
There are 20 cars in total, and they offer all drivers the same equipment.
