The premises of the Little Brothers of the Poor in Lyon (Rhône) were burglarized this weekend, Jean-Stéphane Chaillet, first deputy mayor of the 2nd arrondissement, announced this Monday on his X account (ex-Twitter).
According to the elected official, “thousands of euros in damage” are to be deplored.
Members of the association, which fights against the social isolation of seniors, discovered their premises vandalized when they opened this morning.
A safe hidden in a closet was opened and emptied of its contents.

The extent of the damage is not yet known, but Jean-Stéphane Chaillet, also a security delegate, told BFM Lyon that a large sum of money was stolen and that the damage ranged between 5,000 and 10,000 euros.
The association filed a complaint and a police investigation was opened to find the perpetrator(s), local media indicate.
Due to this incident, the Little Brothers of the Poor have decided to exceptionally close their premises all day this Monday.
