Tata, the large Indian industrial and services conglomerate, sends a strong signal to the Asian market and to the governments of the countries in that area through its subsidiary Tata Motors.
After presenting the Curvv SUV coupé as an electric-only concept, it launches it on the local market with internal combustion engine.
But while most rival models - such as Creta/Seltos, Grand Vitara/Hyryder, Kushaq/Taigun - are only available with petrol powertrains, the production version of the Curvv (as showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show) will have a diesel engine .
The local press welcomed this decision with great favor, underlining (we read in Autocar India) that even in the case of the Kia Seltos, already on the market, 42% of buyers opted for the diesel variants.
The Curvv is a modern 1.5 liter unit - the same one present in the Tata Altro and Nexon models - which according to rumors in this application should have a power similar to that on the Seltos SUV (116 HP) but with a torque of around 260 Nm, therefore higher than what the South Korean rival proposes.
