Volvo is also focusing on the Mobility innovation destination Torslanda, a specific testing hub for automotive development, soon to be built and located near the heart of the Swedish company's operational activities, in Gothenburg.

The initiative is part of the electrification process and the development of the next generation of high-end electric cars, as well as representing a renewed commitment to the city that has hosted the car manufacturer since its origins and for almost a hundred years now.

The innovation center will allow Volvo to test emerging technologies in an environment designed to simulate the scenario of a future society.

Instead of developing technologies only in laboratories and dedicated centers, the project will allow innovations to be tested, validated and introduced in an urban-like context.

In addition to building new buildings and facilities for testing, engineering and materials development, Volvo plans to expand its campus to accommodate start-up companies and business partners.

"With this initiative - commented Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars - we intend to create an ecosystem in which we can develop the future of mobility, simultaneously taking into consideration various elements such as cars, the technology inside them and the infrastructure that surrounds them ".

The next phase of the new center project consists of the construction of the buildings that will house modern offices directly opposite the current campus.

The Mobility innovation destination Torslanda will join Volvo's growing list of physical locations around the world, which includes the software testing center the company recently opened in Gothenburg and several Tech Hubs.
