Higher parking fees for larger cars: Federal Administrative Court makes clear ruling

Sounds good at first, but it's not that simple.

The Federal Administrative Court recently ruled in other cases that the same law applies to all car owners.

According to the judges' decision, unequal treatment based on car size is not permitted.

The bigger and wider the car, the higher the parking fees in Koblenz.

Therefore, an adjustment to the fee schedule in Freiburg from 2021 was declared invalid by the Federal Administrative Court.

The associated sharp jumps in fees do not adequately reflect the different advantages depending on the length of the vehicle.

In extreme cases, a difference in length of 50 cm can lead to a doubling of the fee,” the judges emphasized.

Traffic lawyer considers Koblenzer system to be illegal

Frankfurt traffic lawyer Uwe Lenhart sees it similarly.
