A moment of attention cost a Toyota driver dearly.
His electric car ended up in the sea.
The passenger was no longer able to avert the accident.
Cars belong on the road and not in the water.
This much is probably clear to most drivers.
The only exception: your name happens to be James Bond and you are on duty in the service of Her Majesty.
And the change is also possible with Amphicar.
However, a trip to the sea with a RAM pickup is not recommended.
The same applies to the Toyota BZ4x, even if it doesn't happen entirely voluntarily.

Toyota Bz4x ends up in the sea – because driver forgets parking mode
In the latter case, it was a careless mistake that led to the electric car ending up in the Atlantic.
What happened?
On February 7, a man parked his Toyota BZ4x at a boat ramp in Lynn, Massachusetts to go out to eat with his passenger, Gerry Cardona.
As NBC 10 Boston reports, the man briefly got out to throw away trash and forgot to put the car in park mode.
The electric car cuts a much better figure on the road than in the water.

So it happened as it had to happen: the electric car rolled into the water.
The passenger tried in vain to stop the Toyota BZ4x, as he told
NBC 10 Boston
: “I felt the car lurch a little bit.
I grabbed a whisk to try to stop it, but it wouldn't stop... Next, I did everything I could, rolled down the window, climbed out and jumped into the water." When fire and rescue arrived, the man was already on land.

The fire brigade and towing company had to work together to recover the electric car.
According to the US Coast Guard, saltwater intrusion into electric vehicle batteries can lead to a fire.
While it's unlikely that the car caught fire underwater, it's plausible that a thermal event could occur long after the incident.
