The Bar-le-Duc public prosecutor's office (Meuse) opened an investigation after the "disturbing disappearance" on February 4 of a 16-year-old girl.

Her name is Lucie.

A call for witnesses* has been launched, the prosecutor said.

According to a message published on Facebook by her mother, the teenager left the family home in Vavaincourt on February 4 in the morning.

“Investigations continue with intensity.

Eight judicial police officers are mobilized on a daily basis on this case,” continues Sofian Saboulard.

“The auditions follow one another.

We are expanding the operating scope of video surveillance.

We are continuing technical investigations.

According to the prosecutor's office, Lucie's parents were the recipients of a letter, received on February 8 and sealed the day before, which included the following words: "Mom, it's Lucie, I'm fine and I'm safe."

The teenager's mother said she recognized her daughter's handwriting.

“No evidence has been collected at this stage to support a tort or criminal theory.

However, no avenue has been ruled out, especially as time passes,” notes the prosecutor.
