The Gico financiers are notifying some interdictions as part of a maxi-investigation which sees 46 people involved in an alleged corruption ring in the local police sector of Lecce under investigation.
Three employees of the minutes office were also involved, two of whom were banned.
Corruption, forgery, unauthorized access to the computer system among the crimes charged.
According to investigations, numerous reports for traffic violations were canceled in exchange for gifts.
The investigation dates back to a few years ago and was slowed down due to the pandemic.
Among those under investigation are also a city councilor from the minority in office, and a former councillor.
The two employees of the local police reports office in Lecce who were notified this morning of the banning orders from holding public offices are accused of criminal association, corruption, abusive access to databases, forgery and suppression of public documents.
The investigation by the Financial Police began in 2019 and mainly concerned three employees of the local police of Lecce (two of whom were recipients of the interdiction measures), an employee of a municipal company in Lecce and one of the provincial police.
According to the investigative reconstruction of the economic-financial police unit of Lecce, they would have canceled and/or archived reports for violations of the Highway Code (over 500 cases analysed), to a large audience of people, linked by relationships of friendship or interest.
In exchange for the annulment of the minutes, some local politicians would have obtained - explains the Financial Police in a note - "the strengthening of electoral consensus".
Among the other benefits obtained by those who managed to cancel the fines, there were tickets for public shows, for rides, decorations for weddings and moving services.
The disputed conduct has also affected, over time, the staff of other public administrations (not reached by any precautionary measure), "allowing the suspects to broaden the spectrum of knowledge and relationships in a transversal manner, guaranteeing - highlights the Gdf - a mechanism of mutual availability to the exchange of favors, the annulment of administrative acts".
