It turns out that Twitter has recently been dealing with one of the most famous and used gifs on social networks, with many only now finding out who the mysterious woman who stars in it is.
You should all be familiar with the spitting woman gif, in which a young woman wearing a light blue shirt is seen bursting with laughter and spitting her drink everywhere.
Many did not know the origin of this gif and assumed that the spitting woman was the British presenter Emma Willis.
Some also thought she was the actress
Jennifer Lawrence
, the singer
Rita Ora
or even the model
Kelly Brook
- and all of them, as it turns out, were wrong.
Those who use the amusing gif, usually to show that they think something is funny or even laugh out loud, don't really know who the mystery woman is - and probably haven't stopped to try to decipher the answer either.
It was user X (former Twitter), Sean Kitchener, who first raised the issue when he tweeted: "You're telling me the woman in the spitting gif isn't Emma Willis?!".

You may be disappointed to find out, but the woman in the gif is only known to American reality TV fans.

Alyssa Slater, a 37-year-old nutritionist from North Carolina, previously told melmagazine: "At least once a week someone tells me they were exposed to this gif. It's been like this for years. I love the gif. I love that people use it all the time and I'm glad it went viral. It's just a shame I don't get paid for it. That's the only thing that bothers me."
She added: "It's the only thing of mine that's gone viral so I have to learn how to capitalize on that. Everyone uses it which is great for Giphy, Twitter and all those platforms - and I don't make any money from it. Instead, people think it's Jennifer Lawrence . Fortunately, there are people who correct them, tag me or write 'No. This is Alisa from Big Brother.'"
"Giphy and other platforms need content to be successful, and I feel like my response brought them a lot of value in that regard," she concludes, "so I just feel like I should get paid or something for it, right?".
