This, among others, is the data that emerges from the 'Stolen Vehicle Recovery 2024' analysis, drawn up by the LoJack Observatory, the American company part of CalAmp and specialized in telematic services and the recovery of stolen vehicles.

Again according to the data collected, in the sights of thieves for years now, there have been mainly Sport Utility Vehicles, the thefts of which last year saw a real boom which led to the threshold of 50% incidence on the total being exceeded stolen vehicles.

The phenomenon affects the territory differently, concentrating 90% of criminal episodes in Campania, Lazio, Puglia and Lombardy.

Once stolen, these vehicles follow different markets, starting with resale on the national territory but also transport to other Eastern European countries for a new owner.

For SUVs, the record is held by the Toyota Rav4, followed by the Toyota C-HR, Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade and Peugeot 3008. In this area, the trend of crimes committed also thanks to the support of hi-tech tools is consolidated, primarily through key cloning, which allows the vehicle to be taken away in a few seconds without leaving any sign of forced entry.
