The soldiers of the Provincial Command of Savona have carried out an order for the application of precautionary measures at the request of the European Public Prosecutor's Office of Turin by the Office of the investigating judge of Savona against four subjects for criminal association and tax crimes.
Charges for administrative liability were contested against companies based in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, which were searched.
The Gdf of Savona carried out preventive seizures for the equivalent of movable and immovable assets and financial assets for approximately ten million euros.
The investigations, coordinated by the European Prosecutor's Office and developed by the Savona Group, revealed the existence of a criminal organization specialized in the establishment of 'paper mill' companies included in a 'carousel fraud' system, aimed at purchasing tires from community sellers, therefore under a tax-free regime, subsequently resold to national companies at a price markedly lower than the market price with VAT evasion, thus altering the rules of competition.
The investigations led to the discovery that the criminal organization has generated a turnover of over 50 million euros since 2016, for an overall fraud to the Treasury of approximately 10 million euros caused by the failure to pay value added tax.
The execution of the measures involved six Regions (Campania, Lazio, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Calabria) and involved several dozen soldiers.
