All because of a bad fish.

A flight of the American company Delta Airlines was forced to turn around over the Atlantic on Tuesday, February 13, after maggots began to fall on passengers from a compartment, reports The Independent.

The plane was flying from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Detroit, Michigan (United States), and while in flight, a passenger's cabin suitcase opened.

Maggots then fell on several passengers, forcing the plane to turn around and return to its starting point.

Speaking to local channel Fox2, one of the passengers explained that he had seen a dozen maggots falling on a woman.

“She was panicking,” detailed Philip Schotte, a Dutchman living in Iowa.

“She was trying to fight these maggots.

After landing, the passengers were evacuated from the aircraft.

The suitcase in question was placed in a bag to be destroyed.

It appears the maggots came from a spoiled fish that was in a passenger's travel bag, Philip Schotte said.
