The Gorizia Financial Police, under the direction of the Prato Prosecutor's Office, executed a search and seizure decree relating to homes, businesses and car depots, located between Florence and Prato, falling within the availability of a criminal association active in the illicit marketing of cars.
The crimes hypothesized against 4 people are those of aggravated fraud against the State, fraudulent evasion of the payment of taxes and ideological falsehood.
The operation allowed the Fiamme Gialle to seize 135 vehicles and over 12 thousand euros in cash and checks hidden in the homes of the suspects.
Furthermore, seals were placed on an area of approximately 5 thousand square meters used as an illegal landfill for special and dangerous waste.
Starting from the developments of the inspection of a truck with Romanian license plate, which took place near the Italy-Slovenia border line, the Gdf, suspicious of the fact that the vehicle was registered in both Italy and Romania, was able to ascertain the existence of a fleet of over 600 vehicles all registered in the name of an Italian citizen resident in Prato, with various criminal records.
The illegal landfill contained 95 cars (one of which was stolen), 3 trailers and 6 motorcycles.
A further 31 cars were identified in another depot.
Both the landfill area and the vehicles were seized, with a total value of over 1 million euros.
The investigators also notified over 300 notifications for violations of the Highway Code, for a total administrative fine of approximately 153 thousand euros.
