The affair made headlines in the local press.

A Pakistani man charged in Spain with the murder of three septuagenarians is now suspected of having killed his cellmate, a judicial source announced on Saturday.

The 42-year-old man, identified as Dilawar, has been detained in Estremera prison, a suburb of Madrid, since he confessed in January to being involved in a triple homicide.

He is now suspected of killing his cellmate on Thursday, the Madrid Region Superior Court of Justice said.

According to media reports, the victim, a 39-year-old Bulgarian prisoner, was beaten and found dead in the cell he shared with Dilawar.

“Dilawar, accused of murdering three elderly people in Morata town of Tajuna last December, will be investigated in this new case of allegedly committing the crime of intentional homicide,” the court said .

A case of fraud and debts

Dilawar had in January surrendered to police and admitted his involvement in the triple murders in December of two sisters and their disabled brother in the neighboring town of Morata de Tajuna.

The bodies of three septuagenarians, members of the same siblings, were discovered at the same time after neighbors became concerned about not having seen them for several weeks.

According to Spanish media, the triple assassination could be linked to a story of online romantic fraud: the two sisters allegedly maintained a long-distance relationship on the Internet with two individuals posing as American soldiers.

The crooks allegedly pushed them to send them money, forcing them to borrow from relatives and in particular from Dilawar, the tenant of one of the sisters.

Already an attack in 2023

The latter would have lent at least 50,000 euros to the two sisters, an amount that they would never have repaid.

Angry, the Pakistani man committed a violent attack against one of them in 2023: he spent several months in prison after hitting one of the sisters in the head with a hammer but was released in september.

Police suspect that the three victims, whose bodies were found partially burned, were beaten to death with an iron bar.
