The Minister of the Interior demanded the withdrawal of the residence permit of an imam from Gard, who had been the subject of a report by the prefect of the department for his remarks made during sermons.
According to BFMTV, this is Mahjoub Mahjoubi, the imam of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, member of the Association of Muslims of Gard Rhone (AMGR).
“On my instructions, the remarks of this imam were the subject of a report this week to the public prosecutor by the prefect of Gard, confirmed Gérald Darmanin on his X account. I requested the withdrawal of his title of residence with a view to his expulsion from the territory.
No call for hatred will go unanswered.

In a video relayed massively on social networks, Mahjoub Mahjoubli describes the French standard as a “satanic flag” which has “no value with Allah”.
“We will no longer have all these tricolor flags which plague us, which give us headaches,” he said.
Two reports
BFMTV specifies that two reports were made with regard to article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The first was carried out for financial offenses linked to the management of the mosque in December 2023. The second is linked to his preaching.
The article mentions that “any constituted authority, any public officer or civil servant who, in the exercise of his functions, acquires knowledge of a crime or misdemeanor is required to give notice without delay to the prosecutor of the Republic and to transmit to this magistrate all information, minutes and acts relating thereto.
