A suspect in the case of the motorist suspected of having seriously injured a 23-year-old young man by hitting him, during the night from Friday to Saturday in Montpellier (Hérault), was placed in police custody.
The car in question was found abandoned in Saint-Jean-de-Vedas.
The events occurred a little before 5 a.m. outside the Le Select nightclub, in the Tournezy district.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the 23-year-old young man intervened while an individual was bothering two young women.
His initiative caused the departure of the stranger.
The latter, however, did not go far.
A few minutes later, a vehicle apparently deliberately hit the young man who had come to the rescue of the two women, before fleeing.
The injured man, whose vital prognosis was at risk for a while, was hospitalized at the Montpellier University Hospital.
The man who presented himself at the police station was to be questioned as part of this investigation for attempted intentional homicide.
