Highlights: Iranian man uses a Kalashnikov to kill 12 members of his family. The attack took place in the town of Kermanshah, in the south of the country. The victim's father was killed in the attack, but the rest of the family was unharmed. The suspect is believed to be in his 20s, according to local reports. The incident is the latest in a string of shootings in Iran in recent years. The country has been rocked by a series of terror attacks in recent months.

The perpetrator of the attack, who allegedly used a Kalashnikov-type weapon, was killed during the intervention of security forces.

He commits a real massacre because of a family dispute.

A man killed 12 members of his family with a gun in southern Iran, state media reported Sunday.

“A 30-year-old man, motivated by a family dispute, killed 12 members of his family, including his father and his brother, with a Kalashnikov (type) weapon, near the town of Faryab”, in the province of Kerman , declared the head of provincial justice, Ebrahim Hamidi, quoted by the official Irna news agency.

He was killed during the intervention of the security forces, added this source.

Mass shootings are rare in Iran, where gun ownership is generally limited to hunting rifles.

In January, an army conscript opened fire inside a military base in the same province, killing at least five other soldiers before fleeing.
