The Knesset's Economy Committee, chaired by MK David Bitan (Likud) is once again criticizing the Ministry of Transportation. Today, the committee approved for the first reading two bills that were merged, one by MK Erez Malol (Shas) and the other by MK Valid Alhuashla ( Amend the Traffic Ordinance and allow payment for public transportation with a credit card as well.
MK Malol explained that in order to expand the use of public transportation and ease congestion and traffic jams, efforts should be made to simplify and make public transportation accessible to as many users as possible, including occasional travelers and owners of private vehicles who may use public transportation occasionally.
He mentioned that today those who want to pay for public transportation have to take out a Rav Ko, load it and activate it, or download apps and load a payment method.
"This inconvenience prevents a large public from using public transportation, and the bill comes to make it easier for users," he said.
