The rush for “100 euro leasing” of electric cars in France was too great: the project was stopped for the time being.
The purchase premium for electric vehicles will also be reduced.
In Germany, the subsidy for electric cars is already history.
In December 2023, the environmental bonus for electric cars was surprisingly canceled early.
This apparently has anything but a positive effect on the sales figures for electric vehicles: New electric car registrations in January 2024 fell significantly compared to December - and the industry association VDA's electric car sales forecast for the entire year 2024 is also anything but rosy.
In France, on the other hand, there are still purchase bonuses for electric vehicles - but here too, things are being turned back.
The extremely low-cost leasing of electric cars for people with low incomes will even be stopped completely for the time being.

Purchase premium for electric cars reduced by 1,000 euros – France has to save
France has to save money and is reducing the purchase premium for electric cars from 5,000 to 4,000 euros.
The reduction was already planned at the end of last year.
For people with a taxable annual income of less than around 25,000 euros, an electric car bonus of 7,000 euros is maintained.
The bonus for purchasing environmentally friendly delivery vans is also reduced by 1,000 euros.
Last year, more electric car subsidies were paid out than planned in the budget
The reason for the cuts is the government in Paris's austerity efforts to keep the budget in balance.
The annual subsidies of 1.5 billion euros intended for the switch to more environmentally friendly cars should not be exceeded this year.
In the previous year, 300 million euros more in grants were paid out than planned in the budget.

Extremely popular cheap leasing of electric cars is being put on hold for the time being
After a huge rush, state leasing of electric car models starting at 100 euros per month will be discontinued for the current year.
The offer was aimed at people with low incomes who rely on a car for work and live at least 15 kilometers from their place of work.
When the offer was launched around a month and a half ago, the government initially expected 20,000 to 25,000 corresponding leasing contracts for 2024.
In fact, within a few weeks there were 50,000 interested parties, although not all of them will initially be taken into account.
